The Senior HR Manager will lead delivery of HR priorities in the EU with a focus on Germany, ensuring compliance with local labour laws, fostering a positive workplace culture, and supporting strategic business goals. This role requires expertise in German employment regulations and strong stakeholder management to advance and implement HR strategies, solutions and programmes. The Senior HR Manager will collaborate with the UK and European HR team, to ensure alignment of all HR deliverables. This is a permanent, full-time role, and will require 4 days in the office.
Job Responsibility:
Partner with senior business leaders to align HR objectives with business strategies, advising on HR contributions, risks, and solutions during planning and execution
Represent HR on Management Committees, contributing to broader country and regional (Continental Europe) agendas
Drive RBC’s HR strategic priorities and talent initiatives locally
Act as the main point of contact for employees and line managers for HR related matters and queries
Support HR strategies to source, retain, and develop talent, including workforce planning and succession planning
Collaborate with Recruitment and Learning COEs to optimize talent acquisition and leadership development programs for local teams
Contribute to annual compensation planning and governance frameworks ensuring compliance with legislation (e.g., pay transparency, employment equity)
Assist with employee relations cases, partnering with the UK Employee Relations COE, Law Group and relevant Senior Business Partners to mitigate litigation risks
Ensure adherence to local employment laws, regulations, and policies
Manage Works Council relationship ensuring compliance with information, consultation and co-determination rules
Support leaders to drive employee engagement by analysing survey results and implementing action plans
Work with the Learning COE and Global HRBPs to support the business in assessing and strengthening leadership depth and employee capability through the support of leadership programs and development opportunities
Create cultural momentum and leadership accountability to drive pace and outperform while fostering inclusion and belonging
Support associated workstreams in partnership with business and D&I partners
Lead HR solutions for business transformation programs and change initiatives
Implement global HR strategies locally, adapting them to regional needs
In partnership with COEs, HR Operations and Payroll teams, ensure timely delivery and efficient implementation and delivery of HR processes and services (payroll, benefits, pensions, employee lifecycle), leveraging tools and technologies to enhance performance
Identify and mitigate people-related risks, escalating and identifying operational risk issues when necessary
Requirements:
Fluency in German and English
Exposure to European Markets – as a minimum, Germany - including experience with Works Councils - and an understanding of the legislation that underpins these markets
Demonstrable experience working as an HR Business Partner
Foundational knowledge of payroll systems ideally in Germany and Luxembourg
An understanding of the regulatory regime as it relates to Financial Services
Ability to partner and influence key stakeholders and navigate a global organisation
Demonstrable experience of managing competing priorities in a complex organisation
Nice to have:
University or post-graduate degree or similar/equivalent
Financial Services experience
Experience working in a global matrix environment
Knowledge of other European languages would be an asset
