We are currently seeking a Senior HR Business Partner to join our Australia HR team, based in Brisbane with regular travel to operational sites. This is a critical role partnering closely with operational leaders to deliver high-quality, practical HR, employee relations and industrial relations support in a complex, operational environment.
Job Responsibility:
Provide high-quality, timely and practical HR, ER and IR advice to leaders on performance management, conduct, investigations, discipline and termination matters
Act as a trusted advisor on the interpretation and application of enterprise agreements, awards, legislation and internal policies
Lead and support consultation, grievance and dispute resolution processes to achieve fair and sustainable outcomes
Coach and support leaders through complex and sensitive people matters, ensuring procedural fairness and defensible decision-making
Support constructive industrial relations, including preparation for and participation in union meetings and enterprise agreement activities
Prepare documentation, evidence and briefs for external proceedings including Fair Work Commission matters, with guidance from the IR Manager as required
Monitor legislative changes and support HR and ER compliance across policies, procedures and practices
Partner with operational leaders on attendance, absenteeism and fitness for work management, using workforce data to advise on interventions
Support workforce planning, recruitment and selection activities including screening, interviews, offers and onboarding
Provide coaching and capability uplift to leaders on people leadership, ER/IR obligations and policy application
Maintain accurate HR records, reporting and analytics to support governance, compliance and continuous improvement
Proactively identify emerging ER and IR risks and provide insights and recommendations to HR leadership
Requirements:
A tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Psychology, Business Management or a related discipline
Proven experience providing onsite HR, employee relations and industrial relations support
Demonstrated capability in enterprise agreement interpretation and employee case management
Experience in coal mining, resources or a heavy industrial environment (highly regarded)
Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills
The ability to operate effectively under pressure and manage ambiguity
High levels of integrity, discretion and professionalism
