Job Description:

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Health & Safety Advisor to lead and enhance Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ) practices across a growing operational business. This is a key leadership position responsible for embedding a positive safety culture, ensuring statutory compliance, and driving continuous improvement across multiple sites within the region. This role will suit a proactive and solutions-focused H&S professional who is confident working across operational teams, engaging with stakeholders, and influencing at all levels of the organisation.

Job Responsibility:

  • Champion a strong, values-led safety culture across the business
  • Promote awareness through toolbox talks, training sessions and ongoing engagement initiatives
  • Lead by example, reinforcing high standards of safe working practices and procedural compliance
  • Develop, review and maintain Health & Safety policies, procedures and Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
  • Ensure full compliance with relevant UK legislation and industry best practice
  • Support and maintain ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems
  • Proactively identify hazards and implement control measures to mitigate operational risk and reduce external liabilities
  • Identify training needs to maintain workforce competence and compliance
  • Deliver and coordinate H&S training across operational and management teams
  • Provide guidance and support in the preparation and review of risk assessments and safe systems of work
  • Provide leadership and direction to the internal H&S function, including site auditors
  • Oversee contractor and supply chain onboarding, ensuring adherence to required safety standards
  • Act as a key point of contact for client representatives in relation to H&S matters
  • Conduct and oversee routine site inspections and audits
  • Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, ensuring thorough root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions
  • Produce regular performance reports, highlighting trends and recommending improvements
  • Support senior leadership with the development of project-specific HSEQ documentation and management plans

Requirements:

  • NEBOSH Level 3 (General Certificate) or equivalent qualification as a minimum
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar senior H&S role within telecoms, utilities or construction environments
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regionally
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels
