A Senior Health Care Support Worker (SHCSW) is a core member of the Perioperative team delivering care to patients and supporting registered practitioners to deliver high quality, compassionate health care to people in accordance with assessed needs and a care plan.
Job Responsibility
Obtain consent prior to giving care in accordance with Trust policies
Carry out a range of clinical duties with minimal / no supervision, in which a competency has been assessed and recorded specific to the care environment
Carry out a range of non-clinical duties with minimal / no supervision, in which a competency has been assessed and recorded specific to the care environment
Participate in patient assessment providing high quality holistic patient care and escalating concerns about patients to other clinical staff
Practice safe standards of care to patients following Trust guidelines and policies
Provide clinical care in accordance with the infection prevention and health and safety policies and procedures
Requirements
Level 3 (SCQF - 6): City and Guilds 3, NVQ 3 or BTEC National Diploma
GCSE A*-D in English Language, Maths/ Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Math's or equivalent
Equivalent experience together with Level 2 qualification & working towards Level 3
Care Certification - 15 National Standards
Experience of working in healthcare and ability to demonstrate best practice and act as a role model
Evidence of ability to work as a member of a team
Prior experience as a support worker
Completion of Observation training

Level 2 QCF Diploma in Clinical Healthcare support Or Level 2 NVQ in Healthcare Health & Social Care Or Level 2 in Health & Social care (NVQ, QCF, RQF)
