Job Description

A Senior Health Care Support Worker (SHCSW) is a core member of the Perioperative team delivering care to patients and supporting registered practitioners to deliver high quality, compassionate health care to people in accordance with assessed needs and a care plan.

Job Responsibility

  • Obtain consent prior to giving care in accordance with Trust policies
  • Carry out a range of clinical duties with minimal / no supervision, in which a competency has been assessed and recorded specific to the care environment
  • Carry out a range of non-clinical duties with minimal / no supervision, in which a competency has been assessed and recorded specific to the care environment
  • Participate in patient assessment providing high quality holistic patient care and escalating concerns about patients to other clinical staff
  • Practice safe standards of care to patients following Trust guidelines and policies
  • Provide clinical care in accordance with the infection prevention and health and safety policies and procedures

Requirements

  • Level 3 (SCQF - 6): City and Guilds 3, NVQ 3 or BTEC National Diploma
  • GCSE A*-D in English Language, Maths/ Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Math's or equivalent
  • Equivalent experience together with Level 2 qualification & working towards Level 3
  • Care Certification - 15 National Standards
  • Experience of working in healthcare and ability to demonstrate best practice and act as a role model
  • Evidence of ability to work as a member of a team
  • Prior experience as a support worker
  • Completion of Observation training

Nice to have

  • Level 2 QCF Diploma in Clinical Healthcare support Or Level 2 NVQ in Healthcare Health & Social Care Or Level 2 in Health & Social care (NVQ, QCF, RQF)
  • Completion of Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support
