Senior Group Accountant (12 month FTC)\n\nAdmiral Insurance is looking to recruit a Senior Group Accountant within the insurance accounting team on a 12-month fixed term contract (FTC). This is a real opportunity within a FTSE100 Group to shape systems and processes in the Finance function.\n\nKey Aspects of the Role:\n\nReporting to the Insurance Accounting Manager, this role supports both the UK and European insurance entities and contributes directly to high quality Group reporting. The role covers core areas of insurance financial reporting and financial control, including reviewing results, challenging assumptions, and preparing insightful analysis and disclosure content. The successful candidate will act as a Group subject matter expert on key technical insurance accounting matters.\n\nThis position requires a proactive individual with strong analytical skills, excellent organisation and time management, and a focus on technical accounting, data quality, and robust financial controls.

Job Responsibility

  • Perform regular reviews of insurance financial data across the Group to identify trends and support the production of high-quality management information for internal boards, committees, and external stakeholders
  • Review key Group financial reporting disclosures, including profit analyses and financial statement notes, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with relevant accounting standards
  • Drive improvements in insurance accounting systems and processes, supporting system enhancements, enabling teams across the Group to adopt and utilise new capabilities, and contributing to successful system implementations
  • Perform regular reviews of the European insurance financial results, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to Group accounting policies, and providing constructive challenge to local processes, assumptions, and controls
  • Drive high-quality technical insurance accounting across the Group by working closely with UK and European insurance finance teams, ensuring consistent and robust application of IFRS requirements and providing technical guidance, review, and challenge to enhance methodologies, processes, and controls
  • Support the external audit process by coordinating audit requests, preparing supporting documentation and analysis, and assisting in resolving technical accounting queries
  • Support wider Group Finance activities by contributing to cross-functional projects, providing technical advice, and completing ad-hoc tasks and analysis as required

Requirements

  • Qualified accountant with several years’ post-qualification experience (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent)
  • Strong technical accounting capability, with the ability to independently interpret and apply accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and Group policies
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across Finance, Actuarial, and wider business teams
  • Effective task and time management, with the ability to prioritise workload, manage multiple deliverables, and meet tight deadlines
  • Previous experience within General Insurance
  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills, with high attention to detail and a commitment to data quality and control

  • Investment Accounting: Work closely with the cash and investment management and accounting teams across the group to ensure a smooth, efficient and well controlled reporting process, with appropriate oversight to ensure accurate, compliant and transparent management information
