We are looking for a detail-oriented Senior Grant Accountant to join our team in Portland, Maine. In this role, you will oversee financial processes related to grants, including pre-award and post-award activities, ensuring compliance and accuracy. You will play a pivotal role in managing grant accounting operations and supporting the organization's financial goals.
Job Responsibility:
Manage all aspects of grant accounting, including pre-award and post-award activities
Perform month-end closing procedures, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting
Prepare and record journal entries to maintain proper financial documentation
Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies to ensure data integrity
Monitor and manage government grants, ensuring compliance with regulations and reporting requirements
Collaborate with the grant department to support daily operational needs
Analyze financial data to identify trends and provide insights for decision-making
Ensure adherence to organizational policies and procedures in financial operations
Assist with audits related to grants and financial reporting
Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on grants preferred
Proficiency in month-end close processes and journal entry preparation
Strong knowledge of account reconciliation and financial data analysis
Experience with grant accounting and management, including government grants
Familiarity with compliance requirements for grant reporting
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
