We are looking for an experienced Grant Accountant to join our team in Edina, Minnesota. In this role, you will oversee financial activities related to grant funding, ensuring compliance with regulations and accurate reporting. As part of a non-profit organization, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while utilizing your expertise in accounting and grant management. This is a long-term , part time, contract position.
Job Responsibility:
Lead grant tracking, reporting, and compliance support in collaboration with the Finance Specialist
Manage cash flow forecasting and monitoring, ensuring accurate projections
Support budget development, oversight, and variance analysis for grant‑funded programs
Conduct deficit scenario planning and provide recommendations to leadership
Prepare accurate monthly financial statements, grant reports, and board‑ready materials
Oversee the annual audit and Form 990 preparation, ensuring grant compliance documentation is complete
Maintain and strengthen internal accounting controls, particularly around grant activity
Review and approve monthly reconciliations, including grant‑related accounts
Approve payments and ensure compliance with internal policies and grant requirements
Prepare and review journal entries, including grant allocations and revenue recognition
Support month‑end and year‑end close processes
Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processing
Journal entries and routine accounting tasks
Grant tracking, documentation, and reporting support
Requirements:
Sage Intacct experience is required
5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with grant accounting strongly preferred
Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and grant compliance requirements
Experience preparing financial statements, budgets, and audit support
Ability to work independently with minimal direction in a remote environment
Strong communication skills and comfort presenting financial information
Experience supervising or mentoring staff preferred
