Job Description:

The selected candidate will be contributing to our team in a non-profit organization managing multiple business units. The role entails providing meticulous financial support and oversight, managing grant allocations, preparing for audit engagements, and ensuring compliance with non-profit accounting standards. The Senior Grant Accountant will be an integral part of maintaining the financial transparency and health of our organization.

Job Responsibility:

  • Oversee the financial tracking and reporting for active grants, ensuring adherence to grant agreements and funder requirements
  • Collaborate effectively with auditors, providing precise and timely information during audits
  • Review, analyze, and reclassify transactions across multiple financial systems to ensure proper categorization and accurate reporting
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy within accounting processes, workflows, and software systems
  • Perform monthly and quarterly reconciliations for accounts, including school-specific funds, grants, and general ledger adjustments
  • Lead efforts to prepare documents and reconciliations for annual audits, aligning with non-profit accounting practices and regulations
  • Prepare timely and accurate financial statements for internal leadership and external stakeholders, segmented by each charter school
  • Actively participate in cross-departmental collaborations to optimize operations across multiple business units
  • Monitor grant expenditure schedules, prepare invoices for reimbursement requests, and maintain detailed documentation for grant audits
  • Provide support in budget creation and forecasting initiatives for schools and organizational programs

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience as a Grant Accountant
  • Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems
  • Strong understanding of Accounting Functions
  • Experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
  • Proficiency in Accrual Accounting
  • Familiarity with Abila MIP software preferred
  • Expertise in Grant Accounting
  • Ability to handle Ledger Journal Entries
  • Knowledge in Adjusting Journal Entries
  • Proficiency in Account Reconciliation
  • Experience with Cost Centers
