Requirements

Bachelor's Degree (in Geology/Geotechnical Engineering)
2-4 years of progressive work experience in Geology with acquired knowledge at the level of a Senior Project Geologist
Professional Geologist License (PG) or Professional Engineering License (PE) required at time of hire. (Wyoming PG or PE required within one year of hire date.)
Knowledge of environmental principles, theories, and practices, particularly as they relate to regulatory frameworks.
Ability to work collaboratively with professional staff, the Section Manager, and upper management.
Strong written, oral, and electronic communication skills with attention to detail.
Proficiency in computer applications, including spreadsheets, word processing, and presentation software.
Ability to prioritize, schedule, and manage multiple tasks and timelines for oneself and a team.

Job Responsibility

Regulatory Compliance & Enforcement: Develop and implement compliance policies, procedures, and enforcement strategies.
Conduct audits, inspections, and assessments to determine compliance with state and federal regulations.
Investigate and resolve compliance violations and issues within delegated authority.
Draft, negotiate, and finalize enforcement documents.
Ensure compliance with agency rules, state statutes, and regulatory requirements.
Make compliance determinations through interpretation of regulations, technical reports, and inspection findings.
Technical & Environmental Review: Perform technical reviews of permits, proposals, plans, and applications to protect or restore groundwater quality.
Analyze complex environmental, geological, hydrogeological, chemical, and biological data and formulate conclusions.
Evaluate geologic hazards and provide technical recommendations.
Review and evaluate the work of consultants.
