We are looking for an experienced Senior General Ledger Accountant to join our team in Gardena, California. This is a Contract-to-Permanent position within a mission-driven non-profit organization that serves the South Los Angeles community. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in accounting principles, exceptional attention to detail, and a passion for contributing to impactful programs.
Job Responsibility:
Prepare and record journal entries for month-end close activities, including expense accruals, prepaid expenses, and deferred revenue
Reconcile balance sheet accounts and maintain accurate general ledger records
Post payroll journal entries, including semi-monthly payroll, monthly accruals, and tax-related entries
Assist in the preparation and review of monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy
Conduct analytical reviews of general ledger entries and balances, providing recommendations as needed
Collaborate with external auditors by preparing audit schedules and supporting the completion of annual tax filings
Generate monthly billing for state grants and assist in preparing financial reports, including budget utilization updates
Maintain and update fixed asset schedules across the organization
Support the Controller in preparing monthly financial statements, cost reports, and ad hoc analyses
Contribute to budget-to-actual reporting and analysis using specialized budget software
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
At least 2 years of experience in non-profit accounting
familiarity with government funding is a plus
Proficiency in financial software such as Financial Edge, along with Microsoft Office applications
Advanced Excel skills, including data manipulation and reporting
Strong understanding of general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable processes
Knowledge of nonprofit accounting standards, including A-133 and Federal Uniform Guidance
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
Strong organizational and analytical skills with a commitment to high standards and accuracy
