Job Description:

We are looking for a passionate and experienced game designer who specializes in Unreal Engine to join our Shanghai Studio. You will be working on one of our new projects. You should be able to independently design new features and systems, and support their implementation, but the ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in crafting second-to-second action gameplay, including, but not limited to level mechanics, layout design and enemy/AI behavior.

Job Responsibility:

  • Prototype gameplay content (mechanics, enemies, level interactivity) by yourself with minimal dependencies on other disciplines
  • On-hands design and iteration of new features, game mechanics and gameplay content
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to follow your designs from initial documentation through to final in-engine polish
  • Support the development of the game with any additional skills

Requirements:

  • At least 7 years of professional experience as a Gameplay Designer with a portfolio demonstrating combat gameplay and/or level content created by yourself using Unreal Engine & Blueprint
  • Proven ability to implement enemies, NPCs and combat mechanics into interesting encounters
  • Proactive doer who takes responsibility and pride in their own work when given the freedom to work independently
  • Strong cross-discipline communication skills
  • Being a great teammate - we believe making games is a team sport

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with level design tools and concepts. Proven track record of building level blockout
  • Experience with combat AI and familiarity with Unreal Behavior Trees
  • Extensive knowledge of Unreal's GAS - from Gameplay Effects to Ability Modifiers
