We are looking for a Senior Fund Accountant to join an investment management company in the Twin Cities, Minnesota, supporting complex fund accounting activities across multiple portfolios. This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial reporting, and strengthening oversight across valuation, investor reporting, and audit processes. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, sound analytical judgment, and the ability to manage detailed fund operations in a fast-paced environment.
Job Responsibility
Direct the review of accounting records to support internal analysis and investor-facing reporting
Examine monthly deal-level and fund-level reporting packages, confirm completeness and accuracy, and provide formal approval for reporting deliverables
Assess balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules prepared by third-party providers to ensure account activity is properly documented
Contribute to the quarterly valuation process by evaluating valuation models, reviewing results, and comparing operating performance against budget expectations
Respond to valuation-related questions from investment and operations stakeholders and help maintain reliable financial information within business intelligence reporting tools
Prepare and validate quarterly calculations for management fees, placement-related fees, offsets, preferred returns, and general partner allocations
Perform principal and interest calculations across investment positions and support fund-level investment accounting activities
Review investor communications and reporting materials, including capital activity notices, investor statements, and financial statements, while coordinating distribution information with investor relations, treasury, and tax teams
Support annual audit activities by reviewing audited financial statements and footnotes, organizing requested documentation, and addressing auditor questions during interim and year-end procedures
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
Three to five years of relevant experience in fund accounting, alternative investments, financial services, or public accounting
Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and accounting principles applicable to investment funds
Demonstrated experience with balance sheet analysis, and financial statement review
Knowledge of valuations, investor reporting, and alternative investment structures
Advanced Excel skills with the ability to work effectively in accounting and reporting systems
experience with business intelligence tools is helpful
CPA certification is preferred
Strong attention to detail, sound organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple reporting deadlines
