Job Description:

HSBC is seeking an experienced Senior Fraud Officer to rapidly detect, mitigate, and manage fraud cases while acting as an expert consultant for associates and trainees. You will handle fraud alerts and inquiries, conduct investigations, and provide guidance on industry fraud trends in a hybrid working environment in Guangzhou, China. Candidates must have at least 2 years of relevant domain experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work rotational shifts.

Job Responsibility:

  • Rapidly disposition alerts via a preliminary review to filter alerts that can readily be negated
  • conduct detailed investigations utilizing all internal and external sources available
  • verify suspicious activities via outbound calls
  • follow up with customers for education, mitigation, prevention, etc.
  • handle fraud reporting calls and fraud-related inquiries
  • act as Subject Matter Expert for the department
  • provide support to new trainees, underperformers, and resolve queries
  • communicate updates and procedural clarifications to the team.

Requirements:

  • Domain experience - Min 2 years fraud or financial services or customer service experience
  • Excellent communication - Effective conversational skills, proficient in both spoken and written English/ Cantonese/Mandarin
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to write business letters and reports
  • Analytical - Strong decision making and analytical skills. Experience using data and observation to support judgements and complex customer interactions
  • Detail oriented - Research and patiently review the case
  • Multitasking ability - Toggle between multiple applications and ability to work on multiple task
  • Domain knowledge curiosity - Awareness of changing Fraud Landscape, fraud schemes, fraud prevention methods, fraud detection tools and industry fraud trends
  • Timely escalation of fraud trends, suspicious activity, issues, etcs to Management and Fraud Risk
  • Basic understanding of MS Office
  • Flexible to working in a 24x7 process in rotational shifts, including weekends.
