Job Description:

A multidisciplinary consultancy with global experience, Blake Newport has been successfully delivering commercial management, planning, dispute resolution and Expert Witness services for over 40 years to the construction, engineering and outsourcing industries. This position represents an excellent opportunity to work with a friendly, dynamic and experienced consultancy, with the prospect of further enhancing your career. Most assignments will be managed from the Darlington office and undertaken in the North East of England; however, the requirement to travel when necessary is essential. This may include international travel from time to time.

Job Responsibility:

  • Forensic analysis of tender, contract and claims documentation
  • Forensic analysis of programmes in accordance with Society of Construction Law guidelines
  • Independent preparation of claims for time and delay
  • Independent preparation of adjudication documentation
  • Draft written reports, setting out process, conclusions and recommendations
  • Experience of and ability to operate Standard Forms of Contract (JCT/NEC/FIDIC)
  • Provision of strategic advice at all stages of the construction life cycle
  • Active contribution to business development

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 10 years post Degree qualification experience in live project environments, preferably as a planner / project controls manager (or equivalent)
  • Preferably hold or be working towards a Construction Law MSc or Post Graduate Diploma (or equivalent)
  • A working knowledge of dispute resolution procedures and the principles of contract law
  • Experience on major construction and engineering projects
  • The ability to prepare, assess and interrogate construction programmes utilising various industry accepted programme software packages
  • The ability to consolidate, manipulate and interpret large datasets
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite programmes, i.e. Excel, Word, Powerpoint
  • A clear and concise communicator in English (oral and written)
