Job Description:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Flood Modeller to join our Perth office, focusing on WA-based projects. In this role, you’ll lead and deliver flood modelling and flood risk advisory work across a diverse portfolio—supporting infrastructure, land development, transport, water, energy and climate resilience outcomes. You’ll work on hydrologic and hydraulic assessments, develop and peer review modelling approaches, and translate complex flood behaviour into practical, client-ready insights that enable safer, more resilient decisions.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead flood modelling packages end-to-end (scope, methodology, delivery and quality)
  • Support multidisciplinary projects with civil, water, environment, transport and planning teams
  • Engage directly with WA clients and stakeholders, contributing to trusted technical advice
  • Mentor and develop junior modellers/engineers, helping grow capability across the team
  • Contribute to proposals and work winning across WA opportunities

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in flood modelling and flood risk assessment, including hydrologic and hydraulic modelling inputs/outputs and clear technical reporting
  • Strong capability in one or more industry-standard tools such as TUFLOW, HEC-RAS (1D/2D), MIKE (FLOOD/URBAN) and/or InfoWorks ICM (or equivalent)
  • Experience undertaking flood studies (riverine, urban overland flow, coastal/tidal interactions where relevant), including sensitivity testing and scenario development
  • Knowledge of Australian hydrology and ARR principles (e.g., ARR2019), and experience with hydrologic methods/tools (e.g., RORB, URBS, etc.) as applicable to project context
  • Ability to interpret and apply relevant WA and Australian guidance/standards and work effectively with local authority requirements (state agencies and local government contexts)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate modelling results into clear, actionable outcomes for non-technical stakeholders
  • Confidence leading technical reviews, coordinating interfaces, and delivering high-quality documentation to time and budget
  • Proven experience supporting proposals, building client relationships, and contributing to repeat work through excellent service
  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Hydrology, Environmental Science (or similar)

Nice to have:

Chartered status (or working toward)
