Job Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Fire Risk Assessor to join a growing Fire and Health & Safety consultancy. As part of a dedicated team of eight Fire Risk Assessors, this role involves leading complex Fire Risk Assessments, providing expert fire safety advice.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead and conduct high-risk Fire Risk Assessments across a range of industries, including complex and non-complex environments
  • Take accountability for delivering high-quality assessments, finding solutions to complex fire safety issues
  • Prepare, present, and validate Fire Risk Assessments, offering clear and actionable advice to clients
  • Oversee quality assurance, internal audits, and validation of all fire safety activities, including technical advice, fire door surveys, and compartmentation surveys
  • Maintain alignment with NSI’s SP205 third-party accreditation scheme, updating manuals and processes as required

Requirements:

  • Full UK driving licence, with access to a vehicle
  • Extensive experience in conducting high-risk and complex Fire Risk Assessments
  • A nationally recognised Fire Risk Assessment qualification (minimum certificate level)
  • Strong technical understanding of UK Fire Safety Legislation, associated guidance, and risk-based developments
  • Experience in auditing, quality assurance, and validation of fire safety activities

  • Operate and maintain Combined Cycle power generating facility equipment, including heat recovery steam generators (HRSG), air compressors, and fire suppression systems, with minimal guidance or assistance
  • Adeptly troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair defective plant equipment such as pumps, valves, fans, gearboxes, and turbine components in a timely fashion
  • Perform an "Inspection of Watch" on each plant system and record data from meters and gauges—including temperature, vibration, fluid levels, and water chemistry—to verify operating conditions
  • Perform analysis on HRSG, auxiliary boiler, and cooling tower systems, making necessary adjustments to chemical feed and blowdown rates to ensure chemistry remains within proper control ranges
  • Responsible for opening and closing circuit breakers for system operation or electrical isolation, and performing piping and conduit installation for plant upgrades
  • Utilize the facility’s computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), assist with the development of O&M procedures, and write routine reports or work requests
  • Strictly adhere to all safety and environmental rules, facility safety programs, and plant environmental permits to protect personnel and public safety
  • Coordinate with vendors for chemical ordering and timely equipment repairs, and assist in performing Root Cause Analysis (RCA) of failures
  • Perform general housekeeping and painting projects to maintain the cleanliness and appearance of all plant areas and the control room
