Job Description:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Financial Crimes Specialist. As a part of Wells Fargo's second line of defense and Independent Risk Management team, the Global Sanctions Office is responsible for implementing and maintaining an effective global sanctions program for the company that complies with all applicable laws, regulations, and regulatory expectations related to Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanctions. The Senior Financial Crimes Specialist is a critical role in helping to lead the bank's global OFAC sanctions program execution and ensuring it aligns with both global regulations and internal policies.

Job Responsibility:

  • Independently leading projects to enhance operational effectiveness through tracking and monitoring the team mailbox and task intake process
  • Maintaining team metrics and overall strengthening the risk and control environment across our global sanctions program
  • Providing support to the team's Lead Financial Crime Officers as they provide expert advice to the lines of business on sanctions screening oversight, sanctions escalations, and other areas of sanctions need
  • Conducting escalated review of customers with sanctions risk and independently assess the escalations for sanctions risk
  • Managing and monitoring the team mailbox, triaging assignments and directing workflow
  • Performing a variety of administrative tasks that support the broader team, the Business Advisory Leaders, and the Lines of Business
  • Gathering and maintaining team metrics to support performance tracking and reporting
  • Supporting Lead Financial Crime Officers in providing support and advice to Business Advisory Leaders and Lead Financial Crimes Officers
  • Facilitating meetings, recording minutes, tracking action items, and ensuring timely communication with stakeholders
  • Developing reference materials, playbooks, and presentations related to policy adherence and change management
  • Monitoring initiatives to ensure timely follow-up and execution
  • Developing and maintain SharePoint and document repositories
  • Developing specialized knowledge in screening systems and bank technology and provide advice on the same

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of Financial Crimes, Operational Risk, Fraud, Sanctions, Anti-Bribery, Corruption experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, education
  • Knowledge of risk control frameworks and compliance governance
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and audit processes related to sanctions
  • Experience with sanctions screening systems or similar platforms used in financial institutions
  • Familiarity in OFAC sanctions implementation
  • Experience in transformation execution within financial crimes or compliance functions
  • Experience with project coordination, meeting facilitation, or documentation management
  • Experience in drafting, reviewing, or interpreting policies and procedures
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-demand environment while managing multiple priorities
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and support technology-related initiatives
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency in tracking operational metrics and managing workflow tools
  • Willingness to perform administrative tasks and support team operations
  • Understanding of systems and data management concepts
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
