Job Description:

You will be the Brand Controller for L'Oréal China (based in Shanghai), reporting to the BU Finance Head as an individual contributor within the local Finance team. You will own P&L performance across the brand scope, delivering timely insights and partnering with commercial teams to drive margin and growth.

Job Responsibility:

  • P&L Performance & Business Partnering: Monitor line, channel productivity & profitability
  • drive margin improvement initiatives and provide actionable recommendations to Brand and Sales partners
  • Reporting & Close: Lead commercial monthly close processes and deliver accurate management reporting, trends and dashboards to the Group
  • Planning & Variance Analysis: Build channel-related budgets and forecasts
  • analyze variances vs. budget and trend
  • anticipate risks & opportunities and propose mitigation
  • Process & Project Delivery: Manage internal commercial processes (customer allowances, discounts) and lead ad-hoc commercial analyses and controlling projects to improve controls and efficiency

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's in Finance/Accounting (preferred)
  • 5+ years in finance/controlling (FMCG preferred)
  • Business-level English and fluent Mandarin
  • Strong PowerPoint, financial modelling and reporting skills

  • Drive month-end close processes with precision, managing the complexity of high transaction volumes across 46 countries and multiple entities
  • Prepare bank and investor reports, monitor covenant compliance, and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders as we continue our growth trajectory
  • Lead variance analysis between flash and actuals—dig into discrepancies across entities and markets, identify root causes, and ensure the numbers tell the true story
  • Partner with Group Accounting on audit preparation and serve as the expert on our financial records and consolidation
  • Collaborate with business units across Berlin, Prague, Melbourne, Brazil, Bangalore, and London to review cost reports and track performance against budgets
  • Build and optimize approval workflows, cost allocation models, and KPI tracking frameworks through our ERP systems to support our global operations
  • Drive automation of controlling and reporting processes—bringing efficiency to scale without compromising control
  • Establish and document best practices for financial controlling that will support us as we continue expanding globally
