Job Description:

We’re looking for a Senior Financial Analyst to join the Office of the CFO. In this role, you will provide financial planning, analysis, and decision support to the CFO and the Chief of Staff to the CFO on one or more areas of Shopify’s business, working alongside other leadership teams across Finance and Shopify at large. We’re searching for someone who has the skill, curiosity and rigor required to identify new areas to explore inside Shopify’s business, conduct independent analyses and deliver insights. This role will also support the preparation and organization of materials for presentations to our Board of Directors.

Job Responsibility:

Evaluating growth initiatives, product launches, and overall business line performance
Partnering with data science, business operations, commercial and product teams, and Product Line leadership to analyze business drivers, identify areas of opportunity and risk, drive improvements to our unit economics, and strengthen LTV
Developing actionable management reporting, dashboards, and KPIs, and overseeing monthly variance analysis and operating reviews to track business success
Staying updated on emerging AI technologies, and identifying opportunities to automate repetitive manual tasks using tools like SQL, Python and AI to improve workflows within the Office of the CFO
Communicating complex financial and technical concepts in a clear and accessible manner, ensuring understanding across various stakeholders
Fostering closer collaboration with business partners to advance our team's mission to make commerce better for everyone
Preparation of various materials for the Board of Directors alongside the CFO and the Chief of Staff to the CFO

Requirements:

Proven track record of driving significant impact in complex situations
Significant experience in financial modeling and strategic business planning
Track record of strong performance in investment banking for 1-3 years
A growth mindset, a builder’s mentality and a proven history of effective execution
The ability to thrive in a fast-moving, ambiguous work environment and to navigate through change
Superior written and verbal communication skills as well as business partnering expertise
Experience with tech, fintech or other SaaS-based business models

Nice to have:

Understanding of SQL, with the ability to write complex queries, perform data extraction and manipulation, and maintain data integrity
Familiarity with Python and Google Looker Studio
Genuine enthusiasm for AI, tinkering with new tools, and exploring innovative solutions
Experience creating investment business cases in a fast-growth business
