Job Description

Dual reporting to the Corporate Accounting Supervisor, and the GMNA Controller of Customer Care & Aftersales (CCA), the successful candidate will be an active team member involved in monthly, quarterly, and year end activities. This position offers a great opportunity to further enhance technical accounting, teamwork, cross functional work, and communication skills.

Job Responsibility

  • Complete monthly/quarterly close process for CCA Canada, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis
  • Establish and maintain high standards of documentation and support for journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Monthly and quarterly financial statement variance analysis, quarterly SEC disclosure preparation, as well as reporting packages for senior leadership
  • Support recurring cash receipt, banking, and transaction administration processes
  • Apply available AI and digital tools to simplify recurring work
  • Support the continuous improvement of the design, implementation and execution of processes and controls
  • Identification, interpretation and analysis of accounting risks and issues
  • Understand GM SOX frameworks and facilitate the testing, reporting and remediation of GM SOX team
  • Develop and enhance a positive working relationship with financial statement and SOX auditors
  • Critical team member of the CCA Controllership group

Requirements

  • Successfully obtained a Bachelor’s Degree, College Diploma or equivalent in a related field, preferably with a minimum of 3 years of experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with and influence a variety of different groups, including peers, outside consultants, and audit teams
  • Self-directed, able to work with minimal supervision, with a drive for results
  • Advanced Excel and SAP knowledge are strongly preferred
  • Chartered Professional Accountant, or comparable designation is strongly preferred
