We are seeking a technically astute and commercially minded Senior Financial Accountant to join their corporate finance team. This is a high-visibility role that offers the opportunity to influence financial reporting for one of the country’s most recognisable retail groups.
Job Responsibility:
Lead the preparation of half-year and full-year statutory financial statements in compliance with AASB/IFRS and ASX listing rules
Oversee the month-end close process for key corporate entities, ensuring all reconciliations and journals are completed to a high standard
Act as a subject matter expert on complex accounting standards (e.g., AASB 16 Leases, revenue recognition) and provide guidance on commercial transactions
Manage the relationship with external auditors, ensuring a smooth and efficient audit process with timely resolution of queries
Monitor and enhance the internal control environment (SOX-lite) to mitigate financial risk across the retail network
Identify and lead initiatives to automate financial reporting workflows and improve the speed of the month-end cycle
Requirements:
CA or CPA qualified is essential
5+ years of experience in financial accounting, ideally within a large-scale retail, FMCG, or complex corporate environment
Strong expertise in Australian Accounting Standards and a proven ability to interpret and apply complex financial legislation
Proficiency in large-scale ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics 365)
Advanced Excel skills are a prerequisite
Exceptional stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate financial insights to senior leadership and non-finance teams

Big 4 or Mid-Tier audit experienced candidates are highly encouraged to apply
