This Senior Finance Manger role forms part of the finance team in the UK, reporting to the Project Director and managing the delivery of shared services across the UK. The scope of the shared services covers payables and payroll, invoicing and treasury management, and reporting and compliance. The finance function has been through a period of transformation over the past year, with entity specific finance resources being centralised into one UK finance team, and the migration onto a new ERP, Oracle. This role must now build upon that progress and ensure that all shared service activities have the correct level of stewardship, and demonstrable SLAs are in place, and regularly communicated to key stakeholders. There is a strong emphasis on people management to ensure the successful functioning of the team. This role would be based at our Manchester office. We operate a hybrid working policy, this role would require 2 to 3 days in the office each week. This role will involve setting up new systems and procedures as part of a major Government project. You will be leading and building a new team, working closely with the client in this exciting and challenging new opportunity.
Job Responsibility:
Lead & coordinate all activities related to the day-to-day performance of the accounting, administration and reconciliation for the company and for the Government client
Prepare weekly, monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with the contractual requirements, ensuring all reporting deadlines are met
Responsible for overseeing accounts payable and vendor payment activities, accounts receivable, bank deposits, accounting software and banking transactions, fixed assets
Responsible for overseeing monthly payroll, employee benefits and salary administration, payroll related reconciliations
Responsible for regular performance scorecard analysis and reporting
Manage tax functions, remittances and filings to comply with UK tax regulations
Monitor and analyse monthly operating results against budget
manage the preparation of quarterly financial forecasts
conduct cost and control analysis to maximise return on assets
Interact with management and conduct, perform, and submit financial report status reports, budget information, recommendations and problem alerts to management
Develop and manage annual budget preparation, communicate actual to budget performance variances to department manager
Act as project manager for finance and administration related projects on an as needed basis
Manage external accounting and tax audits and all communication exchanges with external accounting firm or tax authorities
Requirements:
Professional certifications such as ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or ACA (preferred)
Strong background in financial reporting, including preparing weekly, monthly, and annual financial statements
Hands-on experience in overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll administration, and managing banking transactions
Experience of working on projects with the Government would be beneficial
Experience in financial forecasting, budget management, and performance analysis, including regular budget variance analysis
Familiarity with fixed asset management and financial reconciliation processes
Experience in external audits, including managing relationships with external accounting firms and tax authorities
Expertise in preparing financial reports in compliance with contractual requirements and meeting strict deadlines
Proficient in accounting software (Sage) and ERP systems (e.g., Oracle) for daily operations, reconciliations, and financial reporting
Ability to liaise effectively with vendors, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth accounting operations
