PxD is seeking a Senior Finance Associate to join our team. This role is open to candidates with the right to live and work in India. PxD is a growing US-based NGO with operations in India and Africa. The Senior Finance Associate is a global role that provides financial management, implementation, and planning for the organization. The role works closely with our Chief Financial Officer (CFO) (based in the US) and finance leads in our country offices in India, Kenya, and Ethiopia. The Senior Finance Associate will oversee and conduct high-quality financial operations, including international transfers, vendor payments, and subcontract payments; support organizational growth through improved systems and processes; and ensure strong financial oversight across PxD. Direct, hands-on accounting is not expected initially, but may become part of the role over time.
Job Responsibility:
Day-to-day financial management, including: Organizing incoming invoices and assigning them to projects
Preparing transfers through banking portals for CFO approval and execution
Troubleshooting operational issues related to international transfers, vendor vetting, regulatory compliance, and risk management
Preparing donor invoices and following up on delayed payments in coordination with project and grants staff
Monitoring and managing organizational cash flow to ensure operational needs are met
Management and system oversight: Working in close coordination with the country finance leads in India, Kenya and Ethiopia to ensure alignment, information flow, and smooth financial operations across all geographies
Maintaining and updating financial systems, including account codes and project structures
Reviewing quarterly project financial reports to flag budget risks, funding gaps, or likely extensions
Driving continuous improvement of financial processes and practices
Working with the CFO and country finance leads to strengthen international financial management systems, including developing and codifying organizational policies
Compliance, reporting, and support: Liaising with external auditors, preparing audit schedules, and explaining variances as needed
Supporting the India finance team by coordinating with the CA and CS to ensure smooth compliance and execution
Ensuring timely monthly close of accounts
Supporting the CFO with annual budgeting and Board reporting
Contributing data for audits and supporting internal and external communications
Assisting with knowledge management and internal learning initiatives across PxD
Requirements:
Management-level experience in finance
Strong knowledge of financial management, reporting requirements, and accounting principles
Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and with colleagues in different geographies
Experience with financial and accounting systems
willingness to learn Sage Intacct (PxD’s system)
Experience with grants management, project accounting, and donor reporting
Exceptional attention to detail, planning, and problem-solving skills
Experience managing internal and external audits
Demonstrated ability to develop and manage large budgets
Strong presentation and communication skills
Relevant Bachelor’s degree
professional accounting qualifications a plus
Working knowledge of US GAAP is a plus, but not required
