Job Description

Our client, a successful family law firm, is seeking a Senior Family Law Attorney to join their team. This role is suited for an experienced attorney who can guide clients through sensitive domestic matters with sound judgment, clear communication, and strong courtroom presence. The attorney will handle a demanding caseload independently while delivering thoughtful strategy and steady advocacy across a range of family law proceedings.

Job Responsibility

  • Represent clients in a broad range of family law matters from inception through final resolution
  • Handle all aspects of litigation, including case strategy, pleadings, discovery, motions, settlement negotiations, mediations, and trials
  • Advise and represent clients in matters involving divorce and legal separation, paternity actions contempt actions and enforcement proceedings, modification actions involving custody, parenting time, support, and alimony, restraining orders and emergency motions, Department of Children and Families (DCF) matters, including DCF appeals
  • Conduct court appearances, evidentiary hearings, and trials
  • Draft and review legal documents, pleadings, agreements, affidavits, and memoranda
  • Collaborate with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, guardians ad litem, social workers, and other professionals
  • Maintain accurate case files and comply with all court deadlines and procedural requirements
  • Provide clients with clear legal guidance and maintain consistent communication throughout representation

Requirements

  • 7 to 15 years of family law litigation experience
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
  • Active license and good standing with the applicable state bar
  • Significant courtroom and trial experience in family law matters
  • Strong knowledge of state family law procedures and court practices
  • Experience handling DCF-related matters and appeals preferred
  • Excellent written, verbal, negotiation, and advocacy skills
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines effectively
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a client-centered approach
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and ethical standards

  • Oversee implementation and maintenance of ethical walls and other legal screens
  • Provide guidance to team of Conflict Analysts and New Business Analysts in support of the business intake process, including best practices on corporate family research, and other aspects of the preparation of conflict reports
  • Answer queries from attorneys and professional staff across the firm, concerning business intake policies and procedures, conflicts of interest, related ethical considerations, and other firm policies
  • Work on ad hoc projects of the Office of General Counsel that arise from time to time
  • Must have ability and willingness to work outside of normal business hours as needed.
