Hyliion is committed to creating innovative solutions that enable clean, flexible and affordable electricity production. The Company’s primary focus is to develop distributed power generators that can operate on various fuel sources to future-proof against an ever-changing energy economy. Job Purpose: The Senior Facilities Manager owns the reliability, safety, and scalability of Hyliion's Cedar Park manufacturing facility as we transition from limited early production of the KARNO generator into full-scale manufacturing. This role is accountable for keeping every building system — industrial electrical, HVAC, compressed air, process water, nitrogen, propane, and all standard facility services — running efficiently across a mixed-use footprint that includes additive manufacturing, electro-mechanical assembly, warehousing, and office space. Beyond day-to-day operations, this role serves as a strategic partner to the VP of Operations on facility expansion, capital projects, and utility optimization. The Senior Facilities Manager will lead a planned buildout within the next 12 months, drive measurable ROI through utility and vendor spend rationalization, and apply lean/kaizen principles to build systems and standard work that scale with production. As the facility grows, this role will build and lead a team of Facilities Technicians. Success in this role directly enables Hyliion's production ramp: utilities and infrastructure ready ahead of every milestone, zero facility-driven safety incidents, high system uptime, and a phased expansion plan that stays ahead of the business.
Job Responsibility
Own day-to-day reliability, performance, and upkeep of all building systems and infrastructure
Manage all facility services, including housekeeping, general waste disposal, landscaping, and ongoing building maintenance and repair
Establish and maintain a preventive maintenance program covering all critical building systems and utility infrastructure
Own vendor and contractor relationships — scope work, manage RFQs, evaluate bids, and hold partners accountable for quality and schedule
Conduct ongoing analysis of utility consumption to identify inefficiencies and cost reduction opportunities
Audit and rationalize the contractor and vendor spend portfolio
Develop and execute high-ROI improvement projects with clear business cases and measurable outcomes
Apply lean/kaizen principles to facility operations
Track and report on utility spend, contractor costs, efficiency trends, and improvement results
Ensure utilities, floor space, and building systems are ready ahead of equipment installations, line changes, and production ramp milestones
Support production equipment installation, relocation, and commissioning
Troubleshoot utility-related production issues and participate in root cause analysis
Maintain current facility drawings, utility schematics, and load calculations
Partner with VP Operations to develop phased facility expansion plans
Lead facility-related capital projects from scope development through execution
Identify current facility constraints that could limit throughput, safety, or scalability
Ensure all facility changes follow appropriate change control and risk assessment processes
Ensure facility compliance with OSHA, NEC, NFPA, and applicable local building codes
Support machine safety systems, emergency infrastructure, and safety interlock requirements
Champion safety audits, incident investigations, and corrective actions
Manage inclement weather response protocols
Maintain required safety documentation, including OSHA 300/300A logs
Build and lead an appropriately sized team of Facilities Technicians
Develop standard work, training, and accountability systems that scale with the team
Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
Requirements

Direct experience with industrial electrical systems, HVAC, compressed air, and process utilities in a manufacturing environment
Experience managing vendors, contractors, and service agreements
Experience supporting capital projects — scoping, bidding, and managing execution
Experience in a scaling or ramp-stage manufacturing environment
Familiarity with additive manufacturing, electro-mechanical assembly, or similarly mixed production environments
Experience with compressed/specialty gas systems (nitrogen, propane, or similar)
Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement background (formal training a plus)
CFM (Certified Facility Manager) or CEM (Certified Energy Manager) credential
Experience building or leading a small facilities team
Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
Ability to communicate effectively across all levels — from maintenance technicians to senior leadership
Working knowledge of OSHA, NEC, NFPA, and applicable local building codes
Ability to manage vendor and contractor relationships, including scoping work, evaluating bids, and holding partners accountable
Ability to analyze utility consumption and contractor spend to identify cost reduction and efficiency opportunities
Ability to apply lean/kaizen principles to drive out waste and build scalable systems
Ability to develop business cases and execute high-ROI improvement projects with measurable outcomes
Ability to read and maintain facility drawings, utility schematics, and load calculations
Ability to walk/stand for extended periods across a manufacturing and warehouse environment
Ability to lift up to a defined weight (commonly 25–50 lbs)
Ability to climb ladders, access rooftops/mechanical rooms, and work in tight spaces as needed to inspect building systems
Exposure to manufacturing floor conditions (noise, temperature variation, moving equipment, industrial gases)
Required use of PPE (safety glasses, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, etc.) in designated areas
Availability for occasional after-hours, weekend, or shutdown work to support production continuity and capital project execution
Ability to respond on-site to facility emergencies or inclement weather events
Ability to travel, as needed, by plane, automobile, etc.
