The Senior Facilities Engineer is responsible for ensuring the manufacturing plant’s infrastructure, utilities, and building systems reliably support safe, efficient, and scalable production operations. This role is hands-on and plant-floor focused, directly enabling equipment uptime, production ramp, and layout changes as the facility moves from early production into steady-state manufacturing. This position works closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, and EHS to ensure the plant is always production ready.
Job Responsibility:
Own the performance, capacity, spend, and reliability of plant utilities including: Electrical power distribution and machine drops
Compressed air, vacuum, and process gases
HVAC, ventilation, dust/fume extraction, and heat rejection
Process water, chilled water, and drainage
Ensure utilities meet equipment specifications and production load requirements
Troubleshoot utility-related production downtime and support root cause analysis
Support installation, relocation, and commissioning of production equipment
Partner with Manufacturing Engineering on: Line layouts, workstation placement, and material flow
Equipment moves and line rebalancing
Ensure floor space, utilities, and safety systems are in place prior to equipment arrival
Plan and execute facility upgrades required for: Production volume increases
New product introductions
Additional shifts or extended run times
Identify facility constraints that could limit throughput or uptime
Develop phased facility expansion plans aligned to the production roadmap
Establish and maintain preventive maintenance programs for: Electrical infrastructure
HVAC and process utilities
Building systems that impact production
Support operations and maintenance teams during outages, shutdowns, and recovery events
Drive improvements in uptime, response time, and mean time to repair (MTTR)
Oversight of facility janitorial needs and vendor partners, including facility services repair
Ensure compliance with OSHA, NEC, NFPA, and local building codes
Manage annual Fire Drill as well as the Red Wing vouchers for safety boots
Inclement weather: Manage facility safety protocols and response actions during inclement weather to protect employees, visitors, and assets (e.g., salting walkways, backup power, etc.)
Maintain the OSHA Form 300 log and 300A summary
Support machine safety systems, interlocks, and emergency infrastructure
Champion safety audits, incident investigations, and corrective actions
Ensure facility changes follow proper change control and risk assessment
Ensure that all new hires are loaded into the Safety Skills platform and assign role-specific training courses
Lead facility-related capital projects on the plant floor and partner with Manufacturing Engineering & Operations for their capital projects
Develop scopes of work, RFQs, and installation plans
Manage contractors during production and shutdown windows
Ensure work is executed safely and does not disrupt manufacturing operations
Maintain up-to-date facility drawings, utility schematics, and load calculations
Create standard work for facility response and equipment support
Support continuous improvement efforts on the plant floor
