Zalando's Retail Media unit ZMS is looking for a high-impact Senior External Marketing & PR Specialist to elevate our brand presence across the DACH region and Europe. As the retail media landscape evolves, we want to ensure we aren't just part of the conversation—we want to lead and drive it. We are looking for a well-connected media pro who knows exactly which doors to knock on to position us as the definitive thought leader in the space. Your goal is to turn our retail media business unit into a household name within the advertising and retail industries. Working to provide dedicated support beyond what the Corporate Communications team already offers, you will amplify our outward facing key messaging around our brand equity building capabilities, our standout creative campaigns, our product innovations and overall performance, driving visibility and building trust with our brand partners.
Job Responsibility
Proactive Press Outreach: Actively pitch stories, data-driven insights, and executive profiles to top-tier business, tech, and marketing publications
Thought Leadership: Secure guest columns, speaking engagements, and expert commentary opportunities for leadership
Award Management: Research, draft, and submit winning entries for prestigious industry awards
Interview & Coverage Coordination: Facilitate high-impact interviews and maintain a steady drumbeat of press coverage
Network Leveraging: Utilize existing network of journalists, editors, and influencers in the DACH/European media scene
Event steering: Steering and coordinating our annual ZMS Partner Day with up to 400 brand guests
Requirements
Deep, established relationships with marketing, retail, and business journalists across Europe, with a strong focus on the DACH region
Proven track record in PR or Journalism, ideally with a background in AdTech, Retail Media, or E-commerce
Proactive, able to craft compelling narratives
Fluent in German and English
Experienced in event management and successfully steered events with up to 400 participants
Ability to manage complex high-seniority stakeholders
