As a Senior Experience Designer, you'll be critical to every project you are on; able to draw on your breadth of knowledge of user experience design principles and research methodologies to influence and lead many of the project's design decisions. You'll also be mentoring other designers, both in day-to-day project activities and as part of more formal career development across the Design team. In this role, you will lead end-to-end discovery phases, working closely with cross-functional teams internally and within client organisations, to uncover insights, define opportunities, and set a clear direction for design and development. You will shape meaningful experiences that align with user needs and business goals, ensuring that design solutions are research-driven, validated, and impactful.
Job Responsibility:
Lead and facilitate discovery phases, employing a mix of research methods, workshops, and stakeholder engagement
Plan and conduct user research, synthesizing findings into actionable insights
Develop experience maps, service blueprints, and user journeys to communicate insights
Work collaboratively with product managers, engineers, and other designers to align on vision, priorities, and scope
Translate discovery insights into compelling design concepts, prototypes, and recommendations
Advocate for human-centred design, influencing stakeholders
Facilitate co-creation sessions with stakeholders and users
Define and document design principles and frameworks
Support usability testing, iteration, and refinement of experiences
Mentor junior designers and contribute to the continuous evolution of our design practice
Be the gatekeeper for the quality of the products you work on
Encourage product teams to experiment with new ways of working
Explore new ways of generating ideas, bringing them to life, and sharing them
See the big picture and give user/business context for design decisions
Use experience and client knowledge to spot and resolve problems
Up for challenging conversations if needed to get to the best product
Represent Valtech publicly by participating in talks, events, and conferences
Requirements:
Expertise in user-centred design, strategic thinking, and facilitation of discovery processes
Strong background in leading discovery phases - from framing the challenge to delivering insights and recommendations
Expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methods, including interviews, surveys, contextual inquiries, and analytics
Proficient in facilitation techniques, running workshops, and engaging stakeholders at all levels
Experience in creating journey maps, service blueprints, and ecosystems models
Ability to translate complex problems into clear, actionable insights and design directions
Strong storytelling and communication skills
Comfortable working in agile environments, collaborating with product, engineering, and strategy teams
Passion for solving complex problems and having a curiosity-driven mindset
Mastery of craft, eager to take on new tasks
Evidence of exposure to AI, automation, or emerging technologies within experience design
Ability to give and receive feedback
Experience in agile methodologies and software development practices
Confident using Figma, Miro, Adobe CC suite, and a variety of prototyping tools
