Proven experience in an estimating or delivery role within EHV/Transmission projects
Strong technical knowledge of EHV overhead installations including conductors, insulators, and substations
Familiarity with ICP, IDNO, and DNO frameworks and cost structures

Job Responsibility

Lead the preparation of quotations from drawings and specifications within defined timelines
Undertake on-site surveys and risk assessments, evaluating technical and commercial risks
Assess alternative delivery solutions and advise on commercial implications
Review third-party documents and engineering specifications for accuracy and completeness
Collaborate with Procurement to source competitive subcontractor and supplier pricing
Produce formal quotation documentation aligned to project scope and client expectations
Liaise closely with operational colleagues throughout the tender and handover process
Attend internal handover meetings to clearly communicate estimate assumptions, risks, and scope

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, project estimating, similar discipline or equivalent experience
A focus in electrical engineering or estimating is preferred
Minimum of eight (8) years in the technical, operational, estimating or engineering aspects of the electrical utility/construction industry
Four (4) years’ experience in one or more aspects of the job is required
Transmission experience is strongly preferred
Knowledge of transmission and substation power system planning, engineering, maintenance, and operations
A combination of strong technical knowledge and business acumen

Ensuring detailed scope for major projects is identified and documented to support accurate and timely cost estimates
Supporting the evaluation of cost estimates vs. actual project costs, identifying process improvements to drive improved accuracy for cost estimates
Collaborating with estimate stakeholders (System Planning, Engineering, Standards, Major Projects, Procurement, Siting, Environmental, etc.) to ensure cost estimates consider risks and challenges
Supporting standardization of cost estimating templates across the three-state territory
Developing strong collaboration with discipline engineering and support services
Identification and quantification of project risks and associated risk/contingency cost impacts and clarifications
Presenting estimates to mgmt. in the review process
Utilizing industry best practices for incorporating direct costs, indirect costs, support cost and overheads into project estimates
