Job Description:

We’re seeking a Mechanical Estimator to join our UK Estimation Department. This is an excellent opportunity for someone already working with an M&E contractor who wants to work on a diverse portfolio of building services and fit-out projects. You’ll be central to winning work and preparing high-quality tenders, collaborating closely with our supply chain, project teams, and senior leadership to secure and deliver successful bids.

Job Responsibility:

  • Analyse tender opportunities, assess risk, and provide clear recommendations to management
  • Review tender documentation and ensure a thorough understanding of client requirements
  • Accurately quantify mechanical materials, plant, and labour requirements
  • Prepare tender adjudication packs, risk analyses, and contractor proposals
  • Build up competitive labour rates, factoring in all relevant elements
  • Develop cost plans and value-engineered options to enhance bid competitiveness
  • Liaise with procurement and vet supplier/subcontractor submissions for compliance
  • Collaborate with electrical estimators to finalise complete M&E bids
  • Maintain a database of bids submitted and track outcomes
  • Provide regular reporting to management on estimating activity

Requirements:

  • Third-level qualification in Quantity Surveying, Building Services, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years’ estimating experience with an M&E contractor (essential)
  • Strong understanding of building services and fit-out project requirements
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Confident communicator with strong supplier and subcontractor engagement skills
  • Able to work independently while collaborating across multiple teams
