Job Description

We are currently seeking a senior Wills & Estates Lawyer to join a respected and growing Ottawa-based full-service law firm. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced estates practitioner looking to take on a leadership-oriented role within a collaborative and entrepreneurial environment that values collegiality, autonomy, mentorship, and long-term succession planning.

Job Responsibility

  • Handle a broad range of matters including estate planning, estate administration, succession planning, trust and capacity matters, and related advisory work
  • Manage client relationships, overseeing files independently, and contributing to the continued growth and mentorship of the department

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in wills & estates law, including estate administration and succession planning
  • Existing client base and portable practice preferred
  • Strong experience with trusts, capacity matters, and probate administration
  • Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships and maintain an independent practice
  • Leadership and mentorship capabilities with interest in long-term departmental growth
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to contribute positively to a collegial firm culture
  • Experience in disability planning, tax, estate litigation, or business law considered strong assets
  • Ability to speak and draft in French considered a strong asset, though not mandatory
  • Interest in long-term partnership and succession planning opportunities
