Job Description

We are looking for Atelier Ten New York’s newest full-time Senior Environmental Designer. In this role, you’ll consult on and manage projects (based on your experience and capability) under the guidance of an Associate and/or Director. Beyond leading exciting projects, you’ll maintain strong client and design community relationships, participate in meetings, support or lead design charrettes, and ensure clear, effective communication across teams. You’ll also take ownership of reporting, budgeting, and time management to keep projects on track and deliver exceptional results.

Job Responsibility

  • Independently and proactively plan and manage projects from start to finish
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through clear communication and responsive service
  • Coordinate with design and contractor teams to ensure seamless project delivery
  • Lead client presentations, design charrettes, and internal team meetings
  • Collaborate with Atelier Ten’s technical analysis teams to integrate sustainability strategies into your projects
  • Forecast project fees and resources, and manage budgets effectively
  • Author and review project deliverables, including reports, memos, technical studies, and drawings
  • Create compelling graphic illustrations to communicate technical concepts across our consulting practices
  • Work on a diverse range of projects within the built environment, including institutional, commercial, and residential buildings, as well as large-scale masterplans
  • Partner with Atelier Ten’s integrated design groups to support services such as environmental design consulting, daylight and façade analysis, and benchmarking

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in a field related to environmental building design, architecture, architectural engineering, and/ or building science
  • 5-10 years’ professional experience in an architecture, engineering or sustainability consulting firm
  • LEED, or WELL AP with specialty certification preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word
  • Effective time and budget management capability
  • Strong technical and business writing skills
  • Good verbal and inter-personal ability

Nice to have

  • Experience with software such as “R,” Grasshopper, Radiance, Revit, eQuest, EnergyPlus, IES, D3, or data visualization would be desirable
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Rhino or graphics software (Adobe Illustrator and InDesign) a plus
