Job Description:

This senior leadership role is a hybrid of software engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), people management, and product ownership. The successful candidate will lead the development of a new, horizontal checkout platform, driving both the technical and strategic vision. This position is ideal for a leader with a strong engineering background who excels at managing teams, stakeholders, and product roadmaps in a complex financial services environment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead, manage, and mentor multiple scrum and developer teams in a hybrid engineering oversight model
  • Engage in active, hands-on development for the creation and expansion of a new Checkout platform
  • Define and drive the architectural and strategic decisions for the platform, ensuring alignment with business requirements
  • Develop and execute a compelling product vision and strategy, creating 6-month and 1-year roadmaps to lead the product forward without needing external guidance
  • Manage relationships and expectations with senior-level stakeholders, including requirement gathering and prioritization
  • Establish a metrics-based organization, developing key operational metrics to drive continuous improvement, engineering productivity, and accountability
  • Oversee the entire Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and implement Agile frameworks like SCRUM or Kanban
  • Ensure system security, data integrity, and compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Partner with business-aligned SRE leads to develop and execute long-term technical and product strategies

Requirements:

  • 8+ years' experience hands-on engineering in a complex, critical software development environment
  • Proven experience in a senior technical role with significant business impact and experience in a global environment with matrixed reporting structures
  • Strong proficiency in SRE principles and DevOps practices, with hands-on experience in object-oriented or scripting languages like Java or Python
  • Excellent working knowledge of fundamental computer science concepts, including networking, operating systems, and virtualization
  • Strong proficiency with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), GitOps, and service meshes (e.g., Istio)
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Cloud Formation
  • Demonstrated experience designing, deploying, and running High Availability (HA) systems at scale
  • Exceptional leadership qualities with a track record of fostering a collaborative and positive team environment
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making
  • Bachelor’s/University degree is required
