Senior Engineering Manager, Networking

• Lead an innovation and engineering-oriented organization that builds networks from scratch
• Drive longer term technical strategy across various backbones, cloud networking, and the critical observability, alerting, capacity planning and sequencing required to support these systems
• Communicate and collaborate with teams within and outside Uber
• Understand and distill your stakeholders needs while guiding your various teams to prioritize and deliver the features and performance required
• Ensure the processes and tooling for operational excellent and network security is present throughout the design and implementation of the networks

• 10+ years of progressive leadership experience directing and collaborating on high visibility initiatives across geo-distributed team environments
• 4+ years of proven experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and various focuses, including Engineering Managers and Technical Leads
• Experience in team building, organization design, project management, and delivery
• Experience having designed and operated large-scale distributed networks with fault tolerance, scalability, and performance optimizations
• Strong emphasis on ownership & empowerment of your teams with a proven track record of team development and individual mentorship
• Acts as escalation point during incidents and a diffuser of pressure, while also able to balance a high level decision-maker for prioritization and trade-offs
• Comfortable working with ambiguity in a constantly evolving environment and helping bring clarity and structure for your teams
• A bonus if you are a domain expert in the field of public cloud, on-prem data centers, or IT systems.
