Job Description:

As a Senior Engineering Manager for Merchant Fulfillment in India, you will lead a geographically distributed team of 50+ Engineers and Engineering Managers. You will be responsible for delivering business-critical projects and platforms that merchants and restaurants rely on to run their daily operations. This is a high-visibility leadership role where your decisions will directly impact merchant experience, sentiment and the operational trust of our merchant partners globally. You will partner with Product, Ops, and Design leaders in India and the US to define the strategy for how Uber Eats fulfills orders at scale.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead and mentor a high-performing org of ~50 engineers and managers
  • Own the "Uber Eats Orders" (UEO) tablet experience and the underlying reliability systems that ensure 99.99% uptime for order injection and processing
  • Build intelligent, automated platforms for Chargebacks, Cancellations, and Disputes
  • Lead the BYOC (Bring Your Own Courier) charter, building the "To-Go" and courier onboarding tech
  • Own the "Defect Reduction" mandate, using technology to predict and prevent order failures before they happen

Requirements:

  • 12+ years of engineering experience
  • 6+ years in people management, ideally leading managers and larger organizations (50+)
  • Strong background in building high-scale, distributed systems
  • Ability to translate complex business goals into a concrete technical roadmap
  • A passion for solving real-world operational problems
  • Experience working in a global setup, influencing stakeholders across time zones and functions to drive consensus

Nice to have:

  • Deep familiarity with modern frontend ecosystems (React, Next.js, Micro-frontends) and mobile platforms (React Native)
  • Experience managing systems with high throughput and strict latency SLAs (e.g., P99 < 200ms)
  • Ability to drive consensus across multiple product teams
