Job Responsibility:

  • Lead diverse, remote teams to build and maintain business-critical, enterprise-grade systems using modern technology and techniques, with a strong focus on pragmatic delivery
  • Develop and maintain internal developer platforms, tools, and services that enhance developer productivity and efficiency (e.g., CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks)
  • Create and maintain comprehensive internal documentation, tutorials, and training materials to empower engineers
  • Evangelize and promote best practices in software development, including code quality, testing, security, and observability
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for internal platforms and tools
  • Gather and analyze metrics on developer productivity to identify areas for improvement
  • Grow individual contributors through regular guidance, mentorship, and support
  • Collaboratively devise and communicate detailed designs for a variety of systems
  • Establish strong Product, Design, and Operational partnerships
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, and incorporate them into development practices when appropriate
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the organization
  • Affect organizational change through direct/indirect influence, effective communication, and persuasion
  • Actively engage with multiple engineering teams to understand their enablement needs, gather feedback, and build a prioritized product backlog for the Engineering Enablement team
  • Proactively manage stakeholder expectations through clear communication, regular updates, and transparent prioritization processes

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of software development experience
  • 4+ years of experience leading and managing remote software engineering teams
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals
  • Experience with distributed systems design, implementation, and operation at scale
  • Experience using multiple programming languages in both backend and frontend scenarios
  • Experience with multiple data stores
  • Experience with at least one cloud vendor: Azure, AWS, GCP
  • Experience using Docker and Kubernetes or similar tools
  • Experience building and maintaining developer tools or platforms
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD principles and practices
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) and automation
  • Ability to write clear and concise technical documentation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on data-driven decision-making
  • Experience using agile software development methodologies and tools
  • Clear and effective communication
  • Ability to collaborate effectively among cross-functional teams
  • Experience and passion for recruiting and building first-class engineering teams
  • Demonstrated experience with stakeholder management and effectively gathering requirements from diverse technical teams
  • Proven ability to manage stakeholder expectations and deliver on commitments in a timely manner
  • Strong technical expertise in areas relevant to engineering enablement, including Kafka schema registry, gRPC, and proficiency in multiple programming languages and frameworks beyond those listed

Nice to have:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent work experience
  • Experience with the following technologies: Kafka, React Native, Native mobile development (Swift and/or Kotlin), C# and .NET Core, gRPC or similar contract-first tools, Terraform or similar Infrastructure As Code technologies
  • Deep understanding of the Kafka ecosystem components, specifically schema registry
  • Hands-on experience with gRPC and contract-first development
  • Experience with specific CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI)
  • Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet)
  • Experience with observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog)
  • Experience in creating and delivering technical training or workshops
