At BlackRock, technology powers how we serve clients at scale. Within Aladdin Engineering, the Client Experience Platform (CXP) builds the systems that support the full client lifecycle — from onboarding and inquiries to contracting, client workflows, and foundational data. We are seeking a VP, Senior Software Engineer to strengthen our Gurgaon presence, lead engineers locally, and take technical ownership of several core CXP applications. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineering leader who can balance architecture, coding, people leadership, and high impact delivery.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead and manage Gurgaon-based engineers, providing coaching, feedback, and career growth support, including promotion readiness.
  • Own technical direction and system health for Case Management
  • Design and implement backend services using Java 17+, Spring Boot, and modern architectural patterns.
  • Stay hands-on by contributing production quality code, performing design reviews, and driving architectural decisions.
  • Ensure reliability and operational excellence, including performance, maintainability, observability, and production readiness.
  • Partner with global Product and Operations teams to align technical solutions with business needs and client experience goals.
  • Drive engineering best practices, including testing, code quality, modularisation, and continuous improvement.
  • Champion the adoption of AI powered engineering tools (Copilot, Windsurf, Speckit, Playwright) to improve delivery velocity and quality.
  • Establish and lead a team to own large functionality within Case Management
  • Lead the Scrum processes of the local team and partner with the agile lead of the larger team.
  • Partner with the other engineering lead peers from the other teams in Case Management

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in backend engineering with Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful architectures.
  • Strong technical expertise in object-oriented design, distributed systems, and enterprise integration.
  • Hands-on experience with relational databases (SQL Server or MySQL), schema design, and performance tuning.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience — managing engineers, supporting growth, and driving technical delivery.
  • Excellent architectural judgment and the ability to set and influence engineering direction.
  • Strong coding ability and desire to stay close to the technology.
  • Experience with or strong interest in AI augmented development tools (GitHub Copilot, Windsurf, Speckit, etc.).
  • Clear and effective communicator able to work across a global, multi-team environment.
  • Working experience with Agile/Scrum processes

Nice to have

  • Experience with Kafka, Redis, or other distributed data technologies.
