Senior Systems Engineer – Contract (Inside IR35) BAE Systems | New Malden £50.00 PAYE | 12‑Month Contract | 3–4 Days Per Week BAE Systems is recruiting a Senior Systems Engineer to support complex, software‑intensive programmes within the SMCS Systems Team. This is a 12‑month contract, inside IR35, based in New Malden, working 3–4 days per week. This role suits an experienced systems engineer who is confident owning requirements, supporting system design and leading verification and acceptance activities within a regulated, safety‑critical environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Own and maintain system requirements, including contractual and acceptance criteria
  • Lead verification, validation and acceptance activities for software and hardware releases
  • Support system design through development and review of design specifications
  • Manage and agree external interfaces and interface baselines
  • Conduct technical analysis, investigations and option assessments
  • Produce technical reports and recommendations to support system improvements
  • Contribute to systems engineering activities including: Performance testing, Human factors, Safety analysis (e.g. functional failure or fault tree analysis), Security and information assurance
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to other engineers within the Systems Team

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Senior Systems Engineer or Systems Engineer working on software‑intensive systems
  • Strong background in requirements management, system definition and acceptance
  • Experience delivering systems within complex, regulated or safety‑critical environments
  • Understanding of regulatory and statutory requirements affecting software systems
  • Ability to operate effectively in a multi‑project, pressurised environment

Nice to have

  • Background in defence, aerospace or other safety‑critical industries
  • Experience across systems disciplines such as safety, security, performance or human factors
  • Familiarity with systems engineering methodologies and tools (e.g. requirements databases, MBSE, SysML)
