As a Senior FEA Engineer on the Design Analysis team you will be responsible for conducting Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulations to support the design and development of conventional marine internal combustion engines, drive systems, electrified propulsion and vessels.
Job Responsibility:
Conduct detailed/comprehensive simulations using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software such as Abaqus, and/or other similar commercial software’s of structural components and systems to reduce stress, maximize fatigue life, and minimize NVH
Apply linear and nonlinear finite‑element methods to evaluate stress, stiffness, fatigue, and load paths, while also supporting dynamic studies involving vibration, crank train behavior, and timing or chain system interactions
Develop high‑quality simulation models, define accurate boundary conditions and material behavior, interprets results to drive design improvements, and correlates analysis outcomes with physical test data
Work closely with design and development engineers to help provide design input and perform trade-off studies that will improve the product
Work closely with test engineers to specify testing and instrumentation needed to obtain analysis inputs and validate results
Document analysis findings and share the results with stakeholders, engineering partners, and leaders
Identify potential areas for new method development and work with experts to test and deploy
Continuously seek opportunities for improving analysis processes, tools, and methodologies
Coordinate work packages between onsite and offshore teams
Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
6+ years of experience performing Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using Abaqus, Ansys, or similar commercial software
Strong fundamental understanding of statics, dynamics, engineering mechanics and materials
Exposure to numerical methods and engineering analysis
Strong communication and presentation skills to share analysis results and drive discussions
Nice to have:
MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering with emphasis in solid mechanics, vibrations, dynamics, finite element method, mechanics of materials, fatigue theory, IC engines and e-Machines
Usage of High-Performance Computing (HPC) cluster with Linux OS and Slurm Scheduler
Knowledge of test instrumentation (strain gauges, accelerometers, thermocouples, pressure transducers, flow meters, etc.,.)
Working knowledge of conventional internal combustion engines and marine propulsion systems
