As a Senior CFD Engineer on the Design Analysis team you will be responsible for conducting Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations to support the design and development of conventional marine internal combustion engines, drive systems, electrified propulsion and vessels.
Job Responsibility:
Conduct detailed/comprehensive simulations using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software Siemens Simcenter STAR-CCM+ to model fluid flow behavior and heat transfer mechanisms
Perform conjugate heat transfer (CHT) analysis of internal engines, marine drives, and transmission components to evaluate temperature distributions, cooling performance, and thermal risks
Conduct multiphase hydrodynamic simulations for propellers, drives, and boat systems using multiphase CFD techniques (VOF, Eulerian‑Lagrangian) and moving/overset mesh to model gas–liquid–solid interactions
Work closely with design and development engineers to help provide design input and perform trade-off studies
Work closely with test engineers to specify the necessary testing and instrumentation required to validate analysis results
Document analysis findings and share the results with stakeholders, engineering partners, and leaders
Identify potential areas for new method development and work with experts to test and deploy
Continuously seek opportunities for improving analysis processes, tools, and methodologies
Coordinate work packages between onsite and offshore teams
Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
6+ years of experience performing CFD analysis using SIEMENS Simcenter STAR-CCM
Strong fundamental understanding of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer
Exposure to thermal management of battery, motors, and power electronic components
Exposure to numerical methods and engineering analysis
Strong communication and presentation skills to share analysis results and drive discussions
Nice to have:
MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering with emphasis in fluid dynamics and heat transfer, multiphase flows, IC engines and e-Machines
Usage of High-Performance Computing (HPC) cluster with Linux OS and Slurm Scheduler
Knowledge of test instrumentation (strain gauges, accelerometers, thermocouples, pressure transducers, flow meters, etc.)
Working knowledge of conventional internal combustion engines and marine propulsion systems
