Job Description

A global company and a large, established legal team is expanding its in‑house capabilities. As more employment matters are handled internally, the Senior Employment Counsel role is newly created to focus exclusively on employment disputes and risk mitigation. This Senior Employment Counsel will work cross‑functionally with HR and business leaders, own a broad litigation docket, and operate within a hybrid schedule (3 days onsite).

Job Responsibility

  • Manage a blend of pre‑litigation, litigation, and administrative claims (including agency charges and hearings)
  • Provide proactive advice to internal stakeholders on litigation risks, dispute resolution strategies, and compliance with applicable employment laws and regulations
  • Support law & motion and discovery: draft motions, briefs, and pleadings
  • oversee ESI and document collection
  • propound/respond to discovery
  • conduct witness interviews and preparation
  • prepare for, take, and defend depositions
  • Prepare for and participate in appearances, hearings, trials, and arbitrations as needed
  • Collaborate closely with HR, business leaders, and the broader legal team to align dispute strategy with company objectives and minimize risk
  • Maintain matter tracking and reporting to ensure timely progression and outcome transparency

Requirements

  • 5+ years of employment litigation experience handling pre‑litigation, administrative claims, and court proceedings
  • Active California bar license
