Your Opportunity We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team, supporting the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions across major projects and operational assets within the mining/industrial and utilities sectors. This role will be based at our Osborne Park head office until September 2026 when we will relocate to our new Head Office on St Georges Tce, Perth. Adjacent to the train station, the City office has state of the art end of journey facilities, including secure storage for bicycles and scooters, a gym, tennis court, basketball hoop and a swimming pool available for all Primero employees.
Job Responsibility
Lead the design and review of electrical and instrumentation systems, including power distribution, control systems, and field instrumentation
Ensure compliance with applicable standards (e.g. AS/NZS, IEC) and client specifications
Provide technical support for installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of E&I systems
Manage and coordinate engineering deliverables across multidisciplinary teams
Support maintenance strategies, reliability improvements, and asset lifecycle management
Conduct risk assessments, hazard studies, and ensure adherence to safety requirements
Interface with vendors, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met
Mentor and guide junior engineers and technical personnel
Calculations for sizing cables, transformers, switchboards, arc flash hazards and fault levels
Specify and select equipment for switchboards, VSDs, transformers, PLC hardware, distribution boards, switchgear
Requirements
Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (recognised by IEAust)
7+ years’ design engineering experience in a mining, resources, or heavy industrial environment
Strong knowledge of power systems, control systems (PLC), and field instrumentation
Demonstrated understanding of relevant standards and engineering best practices
Proven ability to lead projects and deliver outcomes in complex operating environments
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Chartered or working towards chartership is highly regarded
