BAE Systems is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer - NAVY Power Infrastructure to support our work as a prime contractor on high-profile U.S. Navy facility development, recapitalization, and construction projects. Job Responsibility:
Responsible for military construction (MILCON) project development, compliance reviews, constructability reviews and ensuring SSP specific requirements are incorporated into the electrical portion of various design phases of the MILCON projects
Support the Navy Program Manager responsible for Strategic Systems Planning (SSP) Facilities Acquisition at TRIDENT Submarine Bases
Responsible for the program deliverables associated with new industrial facilities and their integration into the electrical power grid at US Navy bases supporting ballistic missile submarines
Ensure new facilities are designed and constructed to meet the specific MILCON mission requirements and lead the development of the facility requirements from the conceptual level to ready-for-use
Work with Navy Strategic System Program stake-holders and facility operations to coordinate and resolve facility design/integration issues
Lead the development of comprehensive MILCON documentation (DD1391 forms, construction estimates, & facility planning criteria) and the integration of the electrical infrastructure
Engage in working groups to develop work process with other stake-holders of the new facilities
Lead the electrical design development of SSP facility construction documentation to ensure the constructed facility performs the function of mission
Generate correspondence to internal/external customers, other BAE sector government property administrators, and other architectural/engineering personnel
Manage and support other engineering discipline tasks as needed
Work with and support corporate Safety, Health, Environment (SHE) personnel to maintain a safe work environment and ensures compliance with safety objectives and policies
Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET Accredited program preferred and at least six years of related/relevant professional work experience OR equivalent education and related facility experience
electrical experience required
Professional experience with medium voltage equipment design, generators, substations, and transformers
Professional design experience of industrial facility power grounding systems
Technical writing skills: capable of creating required engineering documentation
Professional Engineer (PE) license is NOT required, but candidate must be willing to attain a PE license once in the position
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Excellent interpersonal skills used when interfacing, coordinating, and negotiating with colleagues, auditors, customers and vendors
Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment and make sound decisions while complying with policies, procedures, appropriate principles and applicable state and federal laws and regulations
Good planning, time management and organization skills
Nice to have:
Professional understanding and application of standard electrical codes, NFPC, NEC, etc
Professional application of Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), Unified Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS) for facility design documentation
Experience in the development of construction design packages
including basis of design documents, drawings, specifications, and calculations per UFC requirements
Professional experience using of ETAP® or SKM Software
Professional experience with lightning protection systems, emergency power systems, uninterruptible power supply (UPS), power converters
Professional experience in the development of Load Flow Analysis, Short Circuit Studies, & Load Calculations
Must be proficient with MS Office Suite programs including Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams
