As a Senior Electrical Engineer – Aeronautical Ground Lighting, you will play a pivotal role in delivering safe, innovative, and high-performance airside infrastructure across Aurecon’s global aviation portfolio. Based in Melbourne, you’ll be part of Aurecon’s Aviation Centre of Excellence, collaborating across geographies to support civil and defence airport clients. This role combines technical leadership, project delivery, and mentoring responsibilities, with a strong focus on quality, compliance, and growth. You’ll help shape how Aurecon designs and delivers airport lighting systems, while contributing to strategic expansion into Southeast Asia.
Job Responsibility:
Manage and lead the development of feasibility, concept, and detailed designs for airport lighting systems, ensuring alignment with project and client requirements
Provide discipline-specific engineering expertise, including constructability reviews and optimisation of designs for safety, sustainability, and compliance
Validate engineering calculations, specifications, and design submittals, ensuring technical accuracy and adherence to standards (e.g. MOS Part 139 and ICAO Annex 14)
Manage and mentor a team of engineers and technical professionals, contributing to capability development and efficient project delivery
Participate in issue resolution related to complex coordination, conflicting design requirements, and material suitability
Contribute to work winning activities, including bid development, client engagement, and storytelling of Aurecon’s value and impact
Demonstrate strong commercial acumen, understanding project risks, cost models, and broader business outcomes to support successful delivery
Requirements:
Degree in Electrical Engineering
Proven experience in AGL design, including runway approach lighting and apron floodlighting systems
Understanding of navigational aids and the services required to support their installation
Experience in high voltage, low voltage, CCR, and controls design
A growth mindset and ability to thrive in highly specialised, detail-driven environments with tight deadlines
