We’re hiring a Protection & Control (P&C) Engineer to lead substation design projects from 15kV to 500kV. This role is ideal for someone with strong relay protection knowledge, SCADA communication design experience, and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams. You’ll be responsible for developing protection schemes, performing system studies, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring high-quality deliverables across all phases of substation projects.
Job Responsibility:
Design and review protection schemes for substation and transmission line equipment (bus, line, capacitor, transformer), including associated relay settings
Read, interpret, design, and engineer P&C systems for utilities up to 500kV, including one-lines, three-lines, AC/DC schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, cable lists, settings, relays, and SCADA
Lead and mentor engineering teams
oversee project scopes, budgets, schedules, and estimates
Perform and review studies and calculations: coordination, voltage drop, fault current, CT burden and saturation, lighting, and installation planning
Use client-specified software and standards for system modeling and analysis
Ensure compliance with NEC, NESC, IEEE, NEMA, ANSI, and client-specific standards
Prepare engineering and construction documents: BOMs, yard layouts, section views, grounding, rigid and strain bus, raceways, and electrical details
Design auxiliary AC and DC power systems and develop technical specifications for major substation equipment (e.g., transformers, breakers, control houses)
Integrate protection, control, and monitoring systems in coordination with other engineering disciplines
Review and check designs for accuracy, appearance, and adherence to standards
Collaborate with internal teams, clients, contractors, consultants, and suppliers to ensure cohesive design and execution
Provide engineering support during construction, testing, and commissioning
visit sites and resolve field issues as needed
Apply field markups to as-built drawings and support documentation updates
Travel up to 25% for site visits, fieldwork, or client coordination
Perform other duties as assigned, including temporary support for other roles when required
