We are seeking an experienced Senior Laboratory / Facility Electrical Engineer for our Life Sciences business unit in our Kanata office. Candidates that have a desire for personal and professional growth, a well-defined understanding of design and construction document processes, and adaptability for short term and long-term projects in an environment that requires a blend of creativity and high technical skills. Successful candidates must be self-starting, motivated, innovative, articulate, self-disciplined, and confident in a demanding, exciting and fast-paced environment. This position requires a competent professional engineer who will be responsible for all phases of engineering production and BIM for a variety of work ranging from programming through construction administration. This includes interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating the design and production effort for one or more large or complex projects.

Job Responsibility

  • Design of electrical systems for facilities / laboratories for Government, University, and private clients.
  • Provide conceptual / detailed design and analysis for facility power distribution (600V), site power distribution (15kV), emergency power generation, grounding and lightning protection, lighting design, telecommunications (voice/data), fire alarm / mass notification, security, access control, and special systems.
  • Provide supporting documentation such as calculations, reports, and specifications.
  • This individual is expected to possess extensive knowledge on electrical regulatory codes.
  • Meet with clients to prepare and/or validate proposed scope of work.
  • Prepare fee proposals for engineering design work.
  • Work with other disciplines to ensure accuracy of the package, meet schedule, and budget commitments and meet expectations for attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely

Requirements

  • Twelve (12) years of experience in facility Electrical Engineering design
  • Experienced using REVIT/AutoCAD or other design software-based drawing generation
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
