The EHS Engineer is responsible for administering Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) programs across AMD’s Malaysia Research & Development operations and supporting functions in Penang and Cyberjaya. This role, based in Penang, is focused on ensuring full compliance with Malaysian regulatory requirements, including the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), as well as AMD corporate policies and procedures. This position will serve as the primary liaison between AMD and DOSH, supporting regulatory inspections, reporting, and engagement. The EHS Engineer will work closely with regional and global EHS teams, site leadership, and site employees to maintain a safe and healthy work environment, implement programs, and drive continuous improvement in EHS performance.
Job Responsibility
Manage and maintain EHS programs in compliance with Malaysian regulations and AMD policies
Assess risk of workers’ injury and/or illness of tasks performed
Assess risk to environment of tasks performed by workers
Serve as the primary liaison with DOSH, including support for inspections, audits, reporting, and regulatory submissions
Ensure compliance with requirements and applicable regulations (e.g., USECHH, Noise Exposure, Scheduled Waste)
Conduct EHS inspections, assessments, and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance
Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
Facilitate EHS committees
Implement and manage audiometric testing programs and personnel noise monitoring, including coordination with occupational health providers
Support industrial hygiene programs, including exposure monitoring and risk controls
Manage scheduled waste and vendor oversight in accordance with Malaysian regulations
Provide EHS training to employees
Organize emergency response activities and evacuation drills
Participate on the Emergency Response Team and Crisis Management Team
Compile and analyze EHS metrics and risk assessment results
drive continuous improvement actions
Partner with site operations to identify and implement safety improvements including fire and life safety compliance
Maintain chemical inventory and Safety Data Sheets
Maintain records in accordance with regulatory and corporate requirements
Support global EHS initiatives and programs
Manage and forecast EHS-related budgets
Perform other duties as required to meet compliance and operational needs
Requirements
5 years of EHS experience, preferably in Malaysia
Registered Safety and Health Officer (SHO) with DOSH (Green Book holder)
Strong knowledge of Malaysian EHS regulations
Experience working directly with regulatory agencies (DOSH engagement strongly preferred)
Experience with audiometric surveys, hearing conservation programs, and personnel noise exposure monitoring
Experience conducting audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations
Strong problem-solving and decision-making capability
Excellent organization, communication, and time management skills
Ability to work independently and influence stakeholders
