Job Responsibility:
Initiate, engineer and /or manage environmental projects to enhance compliance with environmental requirements related to Water and Air Regulations
Perform monthly/annual reports on time required by EPA, PRASA, EQB, DNER permits and corporate Requirements
Prepare, review and update investigations related to Water and Air compliance issues
Manage regulatory inspections from EPA, PRASA, EQB, and DNER on Water and Air related programs
Provide administrative support for projects by collecting DATA, providing project documentation, training staff, and performing other general administrative duties
Develop proposed project objectives and targets and report to EHS Manager on progress
Responsible for the preparation, implementation, revision and follow up of procedures and Plans, SPCC Plan, SWPPP needed to attain, maintain and/or improve the environmental water compliance status facility
Maintain and /or improve compliance with the Environmental Management System (EMS) by revision of each EMS standards
Coordinate and perform internal audits to ensure compliance with the EMS as a Lead Auditor
Follow up and completion of Corrective Actions associated with ISO in Benchmark
Participate in the External Audit for ISO Certifications and support other Baxter facilities as an ISO Auditor
Provide support on Financial Management for the EHS Department by preparing the annual Budget, placing requisition for service and supplies, enter the service entry on Coupa and following up on service providers and suppliers to complete the payment process
Responsible for the monthly data entry on Benchmark and assure data quality for the ESG Sustainability Module, assure completion on the monthly Compliance Calendar, assure closure on time for the Action Tracking System in Benchmark
Responsible for the Recycling program, enhancement of the recycling activities and the management of the service provider
Prepare and review all required air permit reports (perform emissions tracking and trending analysis), review wastewater, hazardous and nonhazardous solid waste reports, well reports, storm water, SPCC, sampling and testing programs and activities as needed to demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements and permit limitations
Ensure proper disposal of hazardous/non-hazardous waste
Ensure that when environmental non-conformances or program weaknesses are identified, root causes are evaluated, and corrective actions are developed, implemented, documented and tracked to closure
Provides training on environmental programs to plant personnel as required
Always observe confidentiality and data privacy rules
Responsible for the supervision of contractors and service providers related to EHS operations
Promote and develop EHS networking and internal resources management among Regional Baxter
Assist the EHS manager in the development of an environmental culture philosophy for the facility
Assist in developing goals and objectives in the sustainability and environmental areas that affect the facility
Develop environmental written procedures in accordance with federal and state government requirements in line with Baxter Corporate requirements
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
Five plus years’ experience with EPA regulations and environmental laws
WWTP Operator Certification, Certified ISO 14001 Auditor preferred
Demonstrated project management of environmental capital projects
Experience with environmental permitting, especially NSR/NESHAP requirements
Demonstrate ability to comprehend written environmental laws and regulations and apply them to an industrial manufacturing setting
Excellent interpretation skills both orally and written
Demonstrated ability to absorb technical information and put it into practical applied use
Demonstrate ability to use a personal computer with current available software
Demonstrate skill in setting objectives and managing projects
Basic understanding of chemistry and material safety data sheets
Experience designing and implementing improvements to waste and recycle streams desired
Ability to apply advance mathematical. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent and interpret bar graphs
Ability to communicate, read, write and understand English/Spanish languages
Ability to manage regulatory inspections from regulatory agencies like EPA and DRNA
Nice to have:
WWTP Operator Certification, Certified ISO 14001 Auditor
Experience designing and implementing improvements to waste and recycle streams desired
