Job Description

The EC&I Engineer will be responsible for producing design studies and manufacturing designs for NSG projects. The engineer will work within a multi-discipline design team and be responsible for undertaking the design of equipment as delegated by the Integration Manager and/or Project Manager.

Job Responsibility

  • Producing design studies and manufacturing designs for NSG projects
  • Working within a multi-discipline design team
  • Designing equipment as delegated by the Integration Manager and/or Project Manager
  • Production of EC&I design concepts
  • Knowledge of control system hardware and software
  • Experience in Functional Safety (BSEN 61508 & 61511)
  • Producing designs that conform to British and European standards and client requirements
  • Producing and maintaining an LTQR / Technical File
  • Ensuring design addresses operability, maintainability, and safety issues
  • Producing designs that meet project programmes and budgets
  • Producing design justification reports
  • Production of functional safety and controls design documentation
  • Producing level of information for manufacturing
  • Checking in-house and subcontract drawing documentation
  • Production of EC&I technical specifications
  • Production of Commissioning documentation
  • Subcontract supplier management
  • Attendance and witnessing of Commissioning activities
  • Interpretation and creation of EC&I engineering drawings using AutoCAD
  • Authoring engineering reports

Requirements

  • Relevant Engineering Degree, HNC or demonstrable equivalent experience
  • Broad based engineering experience in design and manufacturing
  • Design of electrical systems
  • Low voltage control gear
  • Control systems
  • Competent user of MS Office
  • Production of technical reports and documents
  • IOSH Managing Safely or Level 2 Health & Safety in the Workplace or equivalent
  • Membership of appropriate technical / professional body
  • Knowledge of drawing principles and standards
  • Understanding of the requirements of the CE marking
  • AutoCAD
  • Machine safety directives / functional safety
  • HAZOP/HAZID experience
  • Used to dealing with confidential and commercial information
  • Familiar with QSHEW operating procedures and requirements

  • Effective presentation skills
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of colleagues at all levels and with external stakeholders and contractors
