The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is seeking a qualified OSHA Specialist to support and advance employee safety across District 3. This position coordinates closely with WYDOT’s Employee Safety Program to ensure district employees receive appropriate safety training and comply with WYDOT safety-related policies and procedures, as well as state and federal safety regulations. The OSHA Specialist plays a critical role in promoting a safe working environment for all WYDOT employees.
Job Responsibility:
Coordinate with the WYDOT Employee Safety Program to implement safety initiatives
Ensure compliance with WYDOT safety policies, OSHA standards, and state and federal safety requirements
Develop, deliver, and document formal and informal safety training program
Certify and instruct employees in required safety practices and procedures
Serve as a safety resource for District 3 employees and leadership
Represent District 3 on safety-related matters and initiatives
Ensure employees attain and apply all aspects of personal and workplace safety
Collaborate with WYDOT supervisors and department management
Conduct site visits and incident investigations
Collaborate on annual informal inspections of district facilities
Complete inspection reports and track deficiencies and corrective actions
Provide on-the-job training during surveys and inspections
Provide technical assistance and training to correct identified hazards
Assist in reviewing current safety policies and procedures
Attend and support crew and job site safety meetings
Prepare training materials and aids
Coordinate training sites and schedules
Provide guidance, training, and best-shared practices
Research, develop, and propose best practices in safe operating procedures and policies
Aid in updating and developing WYDOT Safety manuals and policies
Create and manage electronic forms and utilize WYDOT's safety management and computer database systems
Create data analysis reports
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree
0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically with OSHA)
OR 3-5 years of progressive work experience (typically with OSHA) as a substitution for education
Valid driver's license
Nice to have:
OSHA 10 certification
30 Hours Instructor certification
First Aid/CPR/AED (Adult, Child, Infant) certification
Hazardous Materials Specialist certification
Knowledge of report writing
Knowledge of federal and state safety rules, regulations, policies, practices, and procedures
